Jo Huddleston likes to laugh with people but not at people. The beach is her favorite vacation spot. Jo doesn’t like to see or hear about people or animals being abused. She’s a spectator fan of several sports, her favorite being tennis. Jo doesn’t like being in the dark and is fearful of snakes!
Why do you write the type of books that you do?
I write sweet Southern historical romance novels because I’ve lived in several states in Southeast America and I love it. Lifestyles are slower, simpler, less hectic. Of course, we have our big cities as does the rest of the country, but I try to stay away from them. This area has majestic mountains, pristine beaches, winding rivers, centers of music and entertainment—all great settings for stories. Most of my novels take place in the 1950s, further examples of my love for a safer, more trusting era.
What Bible scripture has impacted your life the most?
I try to maintain a positive attitude and the Bible verse that helps me do that is:
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8, NIV
What is one book everyone should read?
The Bible—within its pages it has encouragement and solutions to help us in all walks of life.
If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Amelia Earhart. I’ve always been fascinated by flight—birds, airplanes, space ships. Amelia Earhart was a pioneer in air flight, second only to the Wright Brothers. I would love to listen to her talk about her experiences and adventures as a woman airplane pilot.
